Kayonza District Champions Inter-Generational Dialogue for Africa’s Economic Independence
In commemoration of the 62nd African Liberation Day, Kayonza District, in partnership with the Pan-African Movement Rwanda (PAM Rwanda), hosted a public dialogue at the University of Rwanda – College of Education (UR-CoE), centered on the theme:
“Inter-generational Approach to Development: Panacea for Stability and Economic Independence of Africa.”
The high-level event on this Thursday 23 May 2025 was graced by Hon. Protais Musoni, Chairman of PAM Rwanda, and Mayor John Bosco Nyemazi, Patron of PAM Kayonza District. The discussion brought together university students, academic staff, and local youth leaders to reflect on Africa’s development journey and the importance of generational collaboration.
Hon. Musoni highlighted the role of Pan-Africanism in shaping Africa’s political and economic future, noting that Africa’s continued liberation depends on inclusive, inter-generational partnerships.
“African liberation was the foundation. What remains is economic transformation through unity, shared knowledge, and vision across generations,” said Hon. Musoni.
Mayor Nyemazi emphasized the need for young people to engage actively in development initiatives, both at the community and national levels.
“Our commitment as local leaders is to create opportunities where young people learn from the past, act in the present, and shape the future of Africa with courage and responsibility,” he said.
Fostering Dialogue for Africa’s Future
The public talk served as a platform to promote Pan-African values, unity, self-reliance, and economic independence. Participants were encouraged to draw inspiration from Africa’s history and use education and innovation as tools for sustainable development.
Kayonza District remains committed to supporting initiatives that empower youth, promote inclusive dialogue, and align with the broader agenda of African unity and prosperity.
